There's an ice plant found all over San Diego as a groundcover, but different from the finger-leaved Carpobrotus and Delosperma genuses, having semisucculent heart-shaped leaves. I had misremembered the genus name as beginning with an A, but couldn't find it in my blog. Just now I saw it identified on the Facebook Plant Identification group: Mesembryanthemum cordifolium, "heartleaf ice plant".
